Everyone knowns of at least one. A person who started out as an artist, but made the transition to a succesful writer. Many of today's comic writers originally wanted to be illustrators, and I'm looking for them. A cleint has asked me to do an article on famous comic book writers who had originally wanted to be artists. Are you a successful writer with a passion for doodles, or do you know of one? Contact me at mike@mikegagnon.ca or post your suggestions in the comment section!
Are you a manga fan? Manga hater? Are you a retailer, publisher, expert on comics or manga? How do you feel the advent of manga is changing comics? contact me at mike@mikegagnon.ca
Looking for anyone who has a strong opinion about Canada Customs and shipping comics. Do you feel your shipments have been targeted, and delays are affecting your ability to do business? Do you think all shipments of published material should be checked? Have you been wrongfully assessed customs charges for shipments? Have your purchases been delayed significantly by Canada Customs? Contact me at mike@mikegagnon.ca
Still looking for people with a strong opinion one way or another on the planned Deep Geological Repository in Tiverton. Are you a resudent who doesn't like the idea of a toxic waste dump under your home? Are you an expert that feels the method of disposal is completely safe and the best way to dispose of nuclear waste? If so contact me at mike@mikegagnon.ca
The current issue of Rough Stuff magazine has my graphic novelists showcase article which features art and interviews with respected graphic novel creators such as Dawn Brown, Tomer Hanuka, Lance Tooks and Ben Templesmith.
Bob McLeod, the editor, has given me the go ahead to begin developing a follow-up article with a new batch of sequential novelists, with the possibility of it becoming a regular feature in the mag.
So, here's what I'm looking for!
Creators who both write and illustrate graphic novels, have had work published, and are creating content at a professional level as seen in Rough Stuff.
If you fit the bill or wanna nominate someone e-mail me at mike@mikegagnon.ca and Iet's talk about your work. Final selection of featured artists will depend on editorial approval.
As previously mentioned, I am taking part in an event being put on by Blueline Pro/Sketch Magazine/Comic2Games. Artists of every type of experience are being asked to donate sketch cards for an auction which will be held to benefit the American Cancer Society.
I just finished my series of 6 and will be mailing them in to organizers today. Here they are:

The auction will be held in March of 2008, for more details or to get involved contact Jeremy Bell at jeremyb@comics2cars.com
For those of you who haven't picked it up yet, my article on the history of Atlas/Seaboard Comics and interview with Howard Chaykin are in this month's Back Issue magazine, issue #26.
Big news is that Back Issue recently came in second on Diamond's SCOOP newsletter of Best Publications About Comics in 2007. Congrats to Editor Michael Eury and fellow Back Issue contributors.
Quite a change of pace! I'm not used to being the interviewEE anymore.
Recently I was interviewed by fellow writer Don Rainwater about Canadian/U.S. political relations and the war on terror.
The material will be used for several political themed articles which will be published in the U.S., presenting a Canadian viewpoint to the war on terror and informing U.S. readers about how Canadians view thier political system.
I'll be sure to post updates when I find out publication date.
After a brief hiatus, I have resumed my personal investigation into a 25 year old missing persons case. I should have a copy of the original Police investigation any day now. When I've completed my review this info will be used for a future article and possibly other material in order to bring attention to the case.

Donna Bester was a business student at Centennial College in 1982 at the time of her disappearance at 27 years of age. Members of her family are still looking for answers. Anyone with information is asked to contact Toronto Police Services at 416-808-2222. Ask for missing persons division.
