Copies of the first edition of Monkeys & Midgets are still available.

Monkeys & Midgets is a black and white graphic novel created by Mike Gagnon and Illustrated by Nelson Danielson. Monkeys & Midgets was published in 2005 by Open Book Press.

The book features a full color heavy cardstock cover and has 96 interior pages of beautiful black and white art which includes a 10 page preview of artist Nelson Danielson's graphic novel Rock Starz.

The story of Monkeys & Midgets centers on rookie wrestler Davey Goliath. Davey is a newcomer to the Empire Wrestling League, a midget wrestling league run by the spineless Mr. Petney and the cruel Mr. Hapblast.

The league is going bankrupt due to mismanagement and the crooked owners hatch a plan where the wrestlers are forced to battle apes in the ring in order to make money. During all of this commotion Davey has fallen in love with Lisa, daughter of the league’s oldest wrestler Codger, he’s made enemies with the league champion and discovered that one of the apes wrestling in the league may be more than he appears to be.

When the owners abduct Lisa in order to force Davey to purposely lose a fight things come to a head. Davey must rely on some unexpected friends to help free his love and bring about the justice which the owners deserve.
