Home page of Mike Gagnon's showcase of work. Mike Gagnon is a professional writer and content provider for print and web based media and publications.
I'm also working on a website for a sports and comics collectibles retailer. It's fun building the online ordering catalogs and selecting artwork etc to show off figures.
The URL isn't live yet, but I'm sure this will be a high-traffic site when it is and I'll announce when it is live.
If you're wondering no, this is not for graphic novel depot, but an entirely different collectibles retailer with over 30 years experience in the business.
Well, not only is Back Issue one of the best comic mags out there, but I'm definitely a regular contributor now. I've got assignments confirmed for the next 5 issues, so be sure to keep an eye out for my work there.
I'll be covering classic Saturday morning cartoons, comic legends, the offbeat, and more.
You can find all that and more in Back Issue, published by TwoMorrows Publishing!

As previously mentioned, I am taking part in an event being put on by Blueline Pro/Sketch Magazine/Comic2Games. Artists of every type of experience are being asked to donate sketch cards for an auction which will be held to benefit the American Cancer Society.
I just finished my series of 6 and will be mailing them in to organizers today. Here they are:

The auction will be held in March of 2008, for more details or to get involved contact Jeremy Bell at jeremyb@comics2cars.com
Quite a change of pace! I'm not used to being the interviewEE anymore.
Recently I was interviewed by fellow writer Don Rainwater about Canadian/U.S. political relations and the war on terror.
The material will be used for several political themed articles which will be published in the U.S., presenting a Canadian viewpoint to the war on terror and informing U.S. readers about how Canadians view thier political system.
I'll be sure to post updates when I find out publication date.
My political sci-fi story is progressing nicely. I am talking to an interested publisher who may want it expanded into a novel. From this point it will be a few months before I know anything more, but it is definately a step in the right direction.
Well, I finished the story I was working on. It's a political suspense story with a sci-fi twist. I'm going to post some more about it here once I get the wheels turning on a publisher.
Originally the story was meant to be for a client who solicited some fiction for their magazine. However, once I got into the story, the entire cast of characters and plot got away on me, and I ended up writing a much longer, darker story than would suit their needs.
So, I'm currently looking for a publisher for this novella. I've got a final draft ready, it may need some further expansion and revision, but it's ready to be reviewed, which is why I'm currrently contacting publishers. I'm currently quite pleased with it.
Now, when I have time, I have oto start another new short story, this time something with a little more humor, for said original client.
Everyone in the Cargill Area, keep your eyes peeled! I just got my advance copy of this week's edition of the Cargill Area News and my article will be on page 22. Get yours on Friday!
The paper is bi-weekly, and the next edition coming in two weeks will feature the first edition of my new regular column which is dog breed history themed.

Hey all, I have already requested to take part in the event listed below, I encourage anyone out there interested to take part if they can. Although I doubt I’d be able to attend in person, I will be doing a number of Sketch cards.
In all seriousness it’s not often enough that we get a chance to help out in our own way. Even if you can’t make time in your busy schedule to take part, I encourage you to pass this on to any friends or associates who may.
Thanks,
Mike Gagnon
Blue Line is sponsoring a Sketch Card Gallery Exhibit on March 8, 2008 at Comics2Games in Florence, Kentucky. This show is open to all artists. Blue Line will send sketch cards for the artist to do their illustrations and Comics2Games will set up the display for the event. The Exhibit will be up all day with a get-together with some of the artists from 5 to 8pm that evening. Then, after the show, the cards will be auctioned on eBay with the proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society.
Cancer has touched the lives and families of so many artists and writers, faced with fighting this terrible disease. So, consider taking the time to illustrate a few cards for a good cause. Blue Line is supplying the sketch cards for the show and will mail blank cards to artists upon request to illustrate for this event.
The cards can feature most any characters (including your own) with some exceptions on licensed properties such as Star Wars.
For more information to contact Comics2Games at (859) 647-7568 you can contact Jeremy Bell at jeremyb@comics2cars.com on how you or an artist you know can participate in the event for this worthy cause!
Pass the word along to all the message boards, groups, bulletin boards and other outlets you know. Help the fight against cancer and participate in this sketch card event!
