Home page of Mike Gagnon's showcase of work. Mike Gagnon is a professional writer and content provider for print and web based media and publications.
I'm also working on a website for a sports and comics collectibles retailer. It's fun building the online ordering catalogs and selecting artwork etc to show off figures.
The URL isn't live yet, but I'm sure this will be a high-traffic site when it is and I'll announce when it is live.
If you're wondering no, this is not for graphic novel depot, but an entirely different collectibles retailer with over 30 years experience in the business.
Well, not only is Back Issue one of the best comic mags out there, but I'm definitely a regular contributor now. I've got assignments confirmed for the next 5 issues, so be sure to keep an eye out for my work there.
I'll be covering classic Saturday morning cartoons, comic legends, the offbeat, and more.
You can find all that and more in Back Issue, published by TwoMorrows Publishing!

Everyone knowns of at least one. A person who started out as an artist, but made the transition to a succesful writer. Many of today's comic writers originally wanted to be illustrators, and I'm looking for them. A cleint has asked me to do an article on famous comic book writers who had originally wanted to be artists. Are you a successful writer with a passion for doodles, or do you know of one? Contact me at mike@mikegagnon.ca or post your suggestions in the comment section!
After a brief hiatus, I have resumed my personal investigation into a 25 year old missing persons case. I should have a copy of the original Police investigation any day now. When I've completed my review this info will be used for a future article and possibly other material in order to bring attention to the case.

Donna Bester was a business student at Centennial College in 1982 at the time of her disappearance at 27 years of age. Members of her family are still looking for answers. Anyone with information is asked to contact Toronto Police Services at 416-808-2222. Ask for missing persons division.
Today I'm interviewing comic legend John Romita Jr. about his work for a client. The article will appear mid-2008 in a comic industry magazine.
I'm currently working on a news story about a local woman who has been missing for 25 years, and her family's search for answers.
The more I get into this, the more I feel like this is why I was meant to be a writer, to bring cases like this to the public's attention.
I can't say much more until the story is completed, but it's really given me a sense of purpose and something that I feel strongly about.
More details soon.
Previously only appearing in the Saturday editions, my work is now appearing in the Owen Sound Sun TImes at an almost daily basis. I've had several front page stories in the last week. Keep an eye out for my stuff in the Sun Times regularly, or check www.owensoundsuntimes.com
Currently working on a humor short story for a magazine client. It will be about three thousand words and will revolve around a cast of clowns that are part of a travelling circus. It is kind of a bitter-sweet humor story and is just over half-done.
Looking for experts, biologists and physicians to take part in, be interviewed and quoted in developing newspaper articles. Also interested in personal stories of people effected by these diseases. Especially interested in info on the Scarlet Fever disease. Please contact me at mgagnon@bmts.com
Anyone who has info on council meetings in Grey/Bruce, especially Saugeen Shores Council meetings, please contact me at mgagnon@bmts.com to discuss scedules and news worthy topics.
Cool stuff. I had a meeting with The Owen Sound Sun Times newspaper today and got to meet the editors. Things went well. After having two stories published on the front cover in the last two Saturday editions, it is now official, I will be working with them as a regular freelancer, working on hard news, cover stories, and maybe some entertainment stuff.
Ironically, around the same time I announced the existence of mikegagnon.ca last week as an online portal to all my work and info to readers of this blog, the site went down.
The generic site is still working at http://mikeg.joolo.com but the domain isn't working due to an as yet unexplained problem on my host/server end. Needless to say, not impressed with the new host, and will likely be switching again soon.
I'll be sure to post an update when that site is live again.
